About Me:

Hi! I'm Eden

I am a Chicago-based horn player, chamber musician, and educator. As a member and Fellow of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, I have enjoyed collaborating with my colleagues on outreach projects and have enjoyed learning and performing new repertoire with the orchestra!

In 2025, I completed a Master of Music degree at Northwestern University, where I was a graduate assistant for the horn studio. I graduated with honors from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music and Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences with a BM in Horn Performance and a BA in German in 2023.

My senior thesis “The Lasting Legacy of a Divided City: The Berlin Orchestras as a Microcosm for Germany during the Wendezeit” received department honors and was published in the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal. In my time at Northwestern, my primary teachers included Gail Williams and Jon Boen.

I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and frequently perform as guest musician with the Grand Rapids Symphony.

In my free time, I enjoy walking along the lake with my dog, exploring different neighborhoods in Chicago, and tending to my plants.

My connection to this project:

My background in archival research has greatly informed the way I approach concert programming. Through thoughtful repertoire research, I strive to program works that are unfamiliar, unconventional, or entirely unknown to my audiences. Whether historically, personally, or thematically, it is always my goal to curate a selection of works that tell a story to my audience.

In 2023 I completed a thesis project titled “The Lasting Legacy of a Divided City: The Berlin Orchestras as a Microcosm for Germany during the Wendezeit." I explored the impact of the fall of the Berlin Wall on the orchestras within Berlin. During the year I spent researching, I came across unfamiliar composers, titles, and musicians — almost all without recordings. It was if these pieces didn’t exist beyond the archives.

The Voices Beyond the Wall project allows me to contribute to bridging the gap that exists in the ability to hear classical music from divided Germany by sharing works without any recordings.
